Google Glass has attracted much attention from industries and academia in presence of its implications of deriving innovative projects in various fields. Recently, Google ceased the support of development of Google Glass project but leave research opportunities only to research institutions for further development. Under this context, this project aims to integrate Google Glass application with Itaca-SABIEN choreographer, and several health sensors in exchanging datagrams to achieve the goals of monitoring health conditions related to specific patients while operations are performed or related to patients’ daily life.
The real world application scenario demands usable interfaces, accurate data flow and storage within the entire system, thus the Glass application, designed with user interaction analysis in accordance to Glassware specific style, is developed under rigorous software architecture with dependency injection to manage program structures and object lifecycle.
The project is carried on with continuous integration of functionalities and modules in MVP (Model-View-Presenter) software pattern. Threading models are defined in the Glass application for assisting communications between the choreographer and Glassware as well as for helping inner communications within the Glassware. Then, the Glassware sends authentication package to validate subsequent “pull” and “push” operations, with authentication and “pull” operation using REST connection, “push” operation using TCP connection. They are then tested regarding the data availability and correctness in an end-to-end manner.
The final integration of different components is performed and tested under the scrutiny of finite states within the system, proving the feasibility and reliability of integrating Google Glass application in a real world example.
