ANESTECH
ANESTECH: the new frontier of remote pre-anaesthetic assessment based on AI
The Instituto de Biomecánica (IBV), together with the Agencia Valenciana de la Innovación (AVI – IVACE+i), is promoting ANESTECH, a strategic project that redefines how pre-anaesthetic risk is assessed thanks to advanced artificial intelligence technologies and cyber-safe digital environments.
What is ANESTECH?
ANESTECH is an initiative aimed at developing an innovative methodology for remote pre-anaesthetic assessment, allowing patients to carry out part of the process from their own home using their smartphone. The aim is to stratify the anaesthetic risk in an accurate, accessible and safe way, reducing unnecessary travel and optimising the work of clinical teams.
Technology at the service of the patient
The project integrates several key technological lines:
- Advanced motion analysis and 3D reconstruction from videos captured with the patient’s smartphone.
- AI models capable of assessing the airway and estimating anaesthetic risk with greater precision.
- Digital environment in the cloud, interoperable with the Electronic Health Record (EHR), ensuring secure communication between patient and hospital.
- Specific cybersecurity protocols for AI-based clinical systems, ensuring the protection of sensitive data.
A strategic advance for the healthcare system
Pre-anaesthesia assessment is a critical step before any surgical intervention. ANESTECH proposes a more efficient and scalable model, which:
-
- Reduces waiting times and face-to-face visits.
- Improves diagnostic accuracy through AI.
- Facilitates clinical decision-making with structured and secure information.
- Increases the comfort of the patient, who can carry out part of the process from home.
This project is part of the AVI’s Strategic Cooperation Projects Programme, reinforcing the Valencian Region’s commitment to innovation applied to health.
Conclusion
ANESTECH represents a decisive step towards a more digital, preventive and patient-centred healthcare model. The combination of AI, biomechanical analysis and cybersecurity opens the door to a new generation of clinical tools that will transform anaesthetic practice and patient experience.
