INEOM – Intelligent Neonatal Monitoring
Intelligent Neonatal Monitoring
The Big Data and Artificial Intelligence paradigm is bringing about radical change in many productive sectors. Likewise, these same principles can be focused on improving patient care and attention, speeding up decision-making, achieving greater diagnostic precision through individualised data and optimising resource management, which boosts the productivity of professionals.
However, for this to become a reality, it is necessary to have IT tools that integrate the considerable volume of data generated in healthcare institutions into the different information systems. This integration is essential to be able to organise the subsystems logically and generate algorithms and indicators for decision-making through artificial intelligence and data management architectures. Likewise, it is necessary that all this infrastructure is presented through a simple graphic interface and in real time to facilitate its interpretation and decision-making by professionals.
iNeoM plans to develop an innovation project to use these tools in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), where monitoring is an essential pillar in the management of patients due to their clinical characteristics: low clinical expressivity, significant physiological changes in the first days and important variability of their pathology that requires intensive and constant monitoring. The project consists of jointly developing a health technology based on the results of a previous preparatory action (INBIO-2019 call) and which has an extraordinary potential for transfer to the health system.
