PATRON-CGM

Design and development of an application for networking non-professional and volunteer carers for temporary support.

The PATRON-CGM project, developed by the Polytechnic University of Valencia (UPV) in collaboration with FISABIO, seeks to optimise diabetes treatment through an artificial intelligence-based decision support system. This system will analyse data from continuous glucose monitors (CGM) to identify patterns and offer personalised therapeutic recommendations to healthcare professionals and patients.

📊 Project objectives:

✅ Implement a system based on Real World Data to improve decision-making in endocrinology.
✅ Automate the analysis of blood glucose curves using AI, reducing errors and optimising resources.
✅ Facilitate the integration of CGMs in the treatment of Type 2 diabetes, which will soon be added to health coverage.
✅ Improve patient education and control, reducing complications and healthcare costs.

PATRON-GCM will develop a Real Word Data-based decision support system for endocrinologists and nurse educators, using artificial intelligence to extract therapeutic patterns from continuous glucose monitors. The system automates the analysis of blood glucose curves, identifying significant patterns and trends. This optimises resources, reduces costs and errors, improving professional efficiency and patient education, thus optimising diabetes treatment. Continuous glucose monitoring was previously reserved for patients with Type 1 diabetes (10% of the total), but in the coming months, it will be applied to Type 2 diabetes (the remaining 90%), making it essential to have tools that help clinical teams manage this powerful tool.
