Sabien Projects
UPV-SABIEN has wide experience in the application of ICT in Social and Healthcare areas, in Ambient Intelligence, and in AAL technologies (Ambient Assisted Living), as well as in re-engineering, evaluation and validation of social and health processes in real environments, including vast experience in the use of mobile technologies for healthcare and general social purposes. The group has also participated in the development of various websites, including social networks and webs related to health, specialising in the domain Health 2.0.
International
The group has proven experience in management of international projects, the highlights being a number of research programmes financed by the European Commission as part of the IV, V, VI, and VII Marco Programme and the current H2020 programme, acting as both project coordinator and technical coordinator on more than 10 projects, as well as acting leader of Work Packages on more than 30 occasions, participated in by prestigious research groups from around the world.
National
At national level, projects and agreements with companies and public and private institutions (MINECO, MINETUR, CDTI, IVACE, GVA,…) have been undertaken. Also, the group has developped a close collaboration with various hospitals in Valencia province, carrying out multidisciplinary research projects for more than 8 years in ICT applied to health. The group has a special relationship with La Fe Hospital in Valencia in particular, with which the Joint Unit for Research into ICT applied to Re-engineering of Socio-Sanitary Processes (ePRSS) has been formed.
Reseach projects
Currently, the SABIEN group is working on 4 lines of enquiry, covering all the necessary requirements for ICT application both in social areas as well as in healthcare. The projects therefore incorporate the use of ICT in subjects such as: improvement of health and quality of life for those people suffering from serious or chronic illness and for those people within their personal and social sphere; decision support systems (DDS), empowering the patient by aiding self-management of illness, maintaining healthy lifestyles, improving quality of life…
